One of the most talked about fashion events, London Fashion Week 2012, cascaded through the city from September 14 – 18th. It featured 67 catwalk shows (British Fashion Council) and created an air of excitement throughout London. And, what better way to spend a sunny afternoon, than hanging out and taking photos of all the excitement!

The above is photo is taken at “The Courtyard”, where many of the London Fashion Week shows took place. Before and after the show people swarmed the area waiting to catch a glimpse of the intriguing sights. This bright yellow dress was one of my favourites! There was such a wide array of people and fashion to see, that it was hard to choose which to feature in this article….click here to see many more photos of London Fashion Week.

Designers from all over came to show their creations. Photographers, bloggers, and journalists were out in full force making sure not to miss a beat. It was no surprise that the Lady Gaga attended and wore a flower-helmet at Philip Treacy, the famous hat designer’s show.

Street View

What’s happening in fashion from a street view? Is it stripes or pastels, brights or muted? Let’s take to the street and see what’s in style this season.
To me a splash of colour will never go out of style, particularly if it is my favourite nautical red and navy, paired with crisp bright whites. I happened upon this bright/nautical theme on one of my many lunch-time wanders through Jacob. From navy and red striped (yes that’s right stripes are in too) sweaters to cardigans with modest yet eye catching gold buttons, Jacob has your summer/sea side wardrobe covered. I even caught sight of a polka-dot navy blue pencil skirt! Tommy and Nautica have done it right for quite some time now, but I’m glad to see other brands getting “on board”.
There has been more and more denim creeping onto the racks, especially the late 80’s/early 90’s light blue, easy wearing denim. I was just perusing through Vogue’s latest trends and must haves ( and their first item happened to be “Head to Toe Denim”. Now, I could totally go for the casual soft-feel denim button ups that have been showing up everywhere…but head to toe is not for the faint at heart. Perhaps this style can be rocked, but at this point I don’t think it will be rocked by me. I’ll be interested to see how this denim trend escalates…check back later for an update on who’s diggin’ the blue.
Having caught wind that pastels are in, I ask myself if this a good thing or bad? Pastels summon the thought of Easter for me…it also makes me nostalgic for my pastel purple crushed velvet hair scrunchie from an earlier phase of my life. So why pastels? Perhaps another sign that we are in fact the echo generation? Well if nothing else I enjoy that pastels emulate a calm serene attitude. Aside from viewing some of the pastel garments that are rumoured to soon be gracing our sidewalks, the best way to truly decide if you are on the band wagon for this trend would be to try it out for yourself.

Favourite Store of the Month

Anthropologie is my new favourite store, I LOVE all of their stuff. Their clothes are so unique and cute and they even have home décor as well?! I first learned of them online, living in Victoria BC, I have yet to have the pleasure of going into one of their stores…though I’ve heard tell of one that will be in Vancouver soon. Above I have posted some of my favourite items. These images where are found on

To Blackberry or i-Phone…

To Blackberry or iPhone? That is the question…

I was faced with such a question when it was time to replace my VERY outdated flip phone. Debating between the two, I opted for a stylish new blackberry. My initial reason for choosing the blackberry is for the physical keypad as opposed to the coveted touch screen of the iPhone. It’s good for e-mail, facebook, memo-pad, etc. However, having viewed the browser and apps available on iPhones, I question whether the blackberry competes in those categories.

Another aspect of blackberry that I originally thought was going to be a bonus was bbm (blackberry messenger… free messenger to/from all other blackberry users). It turns out to be less than enjoyable. It takes the trend of being able to contact each other any time/any where to a whole new, rather intrusive, level.  If someone sends you a bbm, they can tell if you’ve read their message… meaning if you’ve read it an don’t reply right away it may come off as rude. As soon as someone sends you a bbm, there is the token red asterisk staring you in the face until you click on it to read the message. Sometimes we don’t want to feel obligated to reply right away. It’s similar to if voicemail where to notify the caller that you have in fact listened to their message and if they have not heard back from you it is likely that you are not busy, but electing to ignore them. This I am not a fan of.

Blackberry is often the phone of choice for businesses due to its incredible level of security. iPhones are frequently selected due to their cool factor.  The bottom line is whichever one you get, they are both incredibly smart phones that are going to facilitate everything you do, from checking your e-mail, facebook, the weather (might I recommend the weather-eye app), or scheduling a lunch date on your calendar, both are extremely comprehensive technologies.

And hey….when my three year contract is up with the blackberry, perhaps I will try out the iPhone for a while…..or maybe the newest craze, an android phone.

New Chair

New Chair

New Chair

Seating is key to the overall comfort of a home. This white leather chair is the perfect mix between comfort and design. On one of our many Sunday wanders through the design district in downtown Victoria, my boyfriend and I walked into one particular store that was having a customer appreciation day. We entered a contest to win a piece of furniture and thought nothing more of it, until about Wednesday the following week. We had won the chair! It was especially lucky, as we had been searching for the perfect chair to fit into our cozy loft apartment. Harry and Charles (the cats) were also very happy about our new chair. They are connoisseurs’ of comfort and, according to the time they’ve spent lounging on it since its arrival, I’d say it’s of the utmost comfort.
